Reverend Curtis Hart, Senior Vice President

Hart

Curtis W. Hart is an ordained Episcopal priest who has spent the majority of his professional ministerial career as a hospital department head in chaplaincy and spiritual care.

Rev. Hart’s contributions to the St. Pierre Group focus in the areas of personal and professional dvelopment, especially in the areas of organizational ethics and inspired leadership. When individuals and organizations use more creative resources for problem solving and dealing with conflict the workplace becomes a more productive and humane place.

He believes that the use of narrative and autobiographical writing plays a significant role in building self awareness and improved confidence for both managers and supervisors. Creating a climate of safety and trust are central to building efficiency and productivity in organizations. He brings over 30 years of experience dealing with these issues to St. Pierre Group’s consulting practice, workshops, and executive coaching.

Rev. Hart’s previous professional work in hospitals involved hiring, supervising, and evaluating pastoral care staff as well as regular duties counseling patients, families, and other professional staff. He has written extensively on a variety of topics most notably in the Journal of Religion and Health (Springer link/selected articles) and has lectured and taught extensively in the areas of religion and mental health and biomedical ethics (connect to UTS Course Outline). He has a special interest in the area of crisis management arising from his work in congregations undergoing the stress of major transitions.

He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Religion and Health and is also on the editorial review committee of the The Journal of Pastoral Care and Counseling. He also holds five appointments in two academic institutions. He is Lecturer in Public Health, Medicine, and Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College and Lecturer in Psychiatry and Religion and Lecturer in Field Education at Union Theological Seminary.
